New Edition of Maple Syrup Manual Available



The 2nd edition of the North American Maple Syrup Producers Manual is now available. Printed in full color, with over 150 illustrations, the manual is 329 pages long, and contains contributions from twenty educators, researchers, and maple producers from across the maple region.

New PDA Invasive Species Web Site

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has launched a new Invasive Species Web Site. By visiting the site, producers and consumers can learn how Pennsylvania is protecting against invasive plants, animals, and insects. Governor Rendell created the PA Invasive Species Council in 2004. It is the task of the council to develop and implement invasive species management plans for Pennsylvania.

Forest Landowner Cost Share Assistance Money Available

Beginning in January 2008, the Pennsylvania DCNR Bureau of Forestry will begin accepting Forest Land Enhancement Program applications from landowners interested in doing forestry projects on their land over this winter and spring. A limited amount of cost-share assistance money is available, left over from 2007. All approved projects must be completed by the end of June, 2008.
